The TI-84 Evo is the easiest TI calculator to put games on: there's no software to install and nothing to set up. If you have Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or a Chromebook, you can send games straight from a web page to your calculator in one click.
What you'll need
- A TI-84 Evo and its USB charging cable
- A computer running Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, or a Chromebook (school Chromebooks work great)
Install games in one click
- Open our TI-84 Evo games page in Chrome or Edge. It has free classics like Snake, Tetris, Pac-Man, 2048, Minesweeper, and more.
- Plug your calculator into the computer with its USB cable and turn it on.
- Click "Connect your calculator" at the top of the games page, then pick your TI-84 Evo in the popup. Your browser talks to the calculator directly; nothing gets installed on the computer.
- Click "Send to calculator" on any game.
- On the calculator, press
prgmand choose the Python App, then select the game from the list and run it. That's it, you're playing.
Tip: you can install several games at once. Each one shows up as its own program inside the Python App.
Using Safari, Firefox, or a phone?
Connecting to the calculator only works in Chrome or Edge on a computer. On Safari, Firefox, or a phone the one-click button won't appear, since no browser supports the connection there.
Troubleshooting
There's no Python App in my prgm menu
That means the calculator's memory was fully reset, which removes the Python App. Open TI Connect Evo, connect your calculator, and click Install OS. When it's done, close TI Connect Evo (it holds the calculator's connection), then send your games again.
My calculator doesn't show up when I click Connect
Make sure the calculator is turned on and the cable is seated fully, then try a different USB port. Close anything else that might be using the calculator, like TI Connect Evo or a second tab of the games page. If you're on a school-managed Chromebook, your district may have blocked USB devices entirely (that blocks every transfer tool, including TI's own), so ask your teacher or install at home.
A game won't open, or crashes with a MemoryError
Usually that means too many programs are installed for the calculator to load one into memory.
Delete a few you don't play (prgm → Python App →
MANAGE → Delete Program), then open it again. If one specific
game still fails, re-send it from the games page in case a transfer
left a partial file.
